It has potential, October 20, 2006

I bought this for my daughter’s 12th birthday and while I think it has great potential for her to play with. (I haven’t give it to her yet).

I opened it up to put batteries in it..and of course make sure it worked and see how it worked.

I was impressed with size and the way it works, lots of options, so I don’t think she will get bored to quickly and I see it being a hit at slumber parties, etc.

One thing I think that would make this more appealing would be a card slot or some sort of removable memory so that kids could share their creations by email or on a website with other kids, this would probably jack the price up, but just having images confined to the toy itself seems like it is missing something in these days. Even a standard usb port to be able to transfer to the computer would be good.

    ***UPDATE

My daughter has played with this exactly once and it went back in the box never to be touched again, requires too much lighting, pictures are horrible and it is difficult to use. She really didn’t like it. She has had more fun with the 20Q game that she got for christmas!

I just purchased this for Christmas for my 8 year old daughter. I pulled it out of the box to try it out and had fun playing with it for about an hour. The built in camera worked to take a decent picture – once I turned the light on. I had fun applying the different hair styles jewelry and makeup. I will say the directions were not really all that clear and I kind of had to playwith it to really figure out how to use it. It took 4 AA batteries so make sure you have them on hand at Christmas.

I think my girls will really enjoy seeing themselves with all the wild and cute hairdo’s and putting the makeup on themselves.

MY DAUGHTER WAS VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT. SHE IS AN AFRICAN AMERICAN GIRL, AGE 9. SHE STATED THE PRODUCT MADE HER LOOK LIKE A “BLACK BLOB” THERE WERE NO ETHNIC STYLES. NO MAKEUP COLORS SUITED FOR GIRLS OF COLOR. THE BOX DIDN’T HAVE ANY ETHNIC GIRLS ON THE COVER AND I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE HINT. SISTERS BEWARE!!
