This review is from: Vertical Battery Grip for Nikon D7000 Digital SLR (DSLR) Camera MB-D11 EN-EL15 (Camera)

I’ve only had this product for about two days and I’m definitely glad I didn’t purchase the Nikon version for $200.00 plus. The rubber is different than my D7000 but it feels comfortable. It’s not magnesium alloy underneath but the Meike grip feels solid and secure (there’s no play that I’m noticing). The control dials on the grip are not reversed. I think I may have received an updated version as previous reviews report that the wheels on the grip (for Meike) are reversed. I’m definitely happy about that feature. The reason why I’m only giving this Meike grip 4 stars is because of the tabs used to open and close the holding compartment. The materials used in these critical areas (the tabs themselves) feel uninspiring. I do feel that the tabs will eventually break (given time) and that I will be forced to use a key or tweezers to open the holding compartment. For the record, the tabs have not broken yet since I did read the reviews on this Meike grip and made special effort to not apply too much pressure to the tabs. All in all though, I’m pretty happy that the price I paid was only $35.00. After reading the reviews and watching some opinions on youtube, I know I got what I paid for. A decent $35.00 dollar grip that makes a nice improvement on ergonomics. By the way, I did move the battery from the camera into the grip. So I am operating on one battery (from inside the grip and not inside the camera). This makes it easier for me to change batteries when out in the field.

I have to say I am very impressed with this product so far. Here are some starting points:
-Easy to set up and use, took all of 5 minutes to open up and install. Im using an additional EN-EL15 battery, but I hear it is just as easy with the AA’s.
-The rubber on the grip is more similar to older Nikons rather than the d7000, but it feels nice and doesnt look all that different.
-While plastic, this grip still feels sturdy, at least as rugged as a d5100.
-The buttons are fully functional, and do exactly what you’d expect them to out of the box. You can if you wish, program the AE/AF lock to be some other function in the camera’s setup menu.
-While the wheel to lock this grip in place does have some play, it is not significant enough to warent any more discussion than this.
-The battery registered in the camera’s menu and LCD without a hitch.
-The latch opening the battery door is a bit light, but I am not as nervous as some of the posters on here.

    Things you should know:

This only holds 1 EN-EL15 battery, in addition to the camera’s battery. It also holds up to 6AA’s which you should make sure the camera is aware you are using.
The menu dial is a pushable joystick, not the D-pad style control native to the d7000.
The function wheels (Aperture/Shutter) are smoother and thus more difficult to grip compared to the camera bodies. Although perhaps I am just being picky here.

I believe you can buy 6 of these for the price of 1 Nikon.

I am very satisfied, the camera even rests well on the grips flat bottom.
